Lamar Bookings May Leave Barton
The 2025 Lamar and Barton County detention agreement documents an unusual local path. Barton may accept, book, photograph, fingerprint, and provide authorized DNA collection and care for Lamar municipal arrestees. State and federal accused generally receive priority because county resources are limited. The sheriff may decline or outsource custody based on space, separation, or conflict.
Barton cannot separately house women onsite under this arrangement. A woman may be booked at Cherry Street and then transported by Lamar to an outside facility selected by the sheriff, generally in a neighboring county. A searcher can therefore find a Barton booking even when the person is physically held elsewhere. Ask the jail about transfer rather than assuming release.
The agreement sets Lamar’s reimbursement at $55 per calendar day with no separate booking fee. A stay that crosses midnight can count as two chargeable days. That billing detail explains the city-county arrangement but is not a public booking fee paid by an arrested person.
Recent Arrests and Booking Logs
