Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Barton County Criminal History does not keep or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so a response can be prepared. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may automatically receive basic technical information about that visit:
- The time recorded for each page view
- Your device type and operating system
- The referring website, when one is available
- Your device's assigned IP address
- The browser type and version in use
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show how visitors move through the site, including which pages receive traffic and where a visit ends. Analytics providers combine this usage data into broader measurements. You may block cookies through browser settings, although some site functions could then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected partner service
- Finding and correcting technical faults
- Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
- Operating the site and maintaining reasonable load times
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Barton County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It provides general directions to records held by the Barton County Sheriff, the Circuit Court, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Criminal Justice Information Services Division Central Repository, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. This private resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal histories.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is handled under that partner's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Barton County Sheriff's pages, Missouri Case.net, the Missouri Automated Criminal History Site, other government resources, legal-aid organizations, or outside search services. Once you follow a link, the destination's privacy terms govern the visit. Read them before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may follow activity across websites to select ads. That tracking takes place on the provider's systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a query you submit
- Advertising networks placing ads on these pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for data in our control. No internet-connected system can be guaranteed completely secure, so we cannot promise that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied personal data, it will be removed.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with where you live. The Missouri Sunshine Law, Chapter 610 RSMo governs access to records of Missouri public bodies, while Sections 43.500, 43.506, and 43.540 RSMo govern Central Repository reporting and criminal-history dissemination. Those laws do not turn this private site into Barton County, the courts, or the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request a copy of personal information held about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion of data where the law permits
- Decline certain forms of data processing when an opt-out applies
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised from time to time. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date. Review the page periodically for changes in how information is handled.
